Woodside House

Having worked for this client over many years, their latest project involved transforming the master bedroom into one of luxury. This included substantial renovation to the original pine panelling which had seen a build up of decoration and significant shrinkage over many years. A number of bespoke pieces of bedroom furniture were made and a new solid oak floor laid. The transformation, as you can see, is stunning.

Bespoke Furniture

The heavily carved elaborate headboard was replicated from one our client had seen in a hotel overseas. The flamed mahogany back board enhances the elegant design, all of which was made, carved and polished by hand. To accompany the headboard, two bedside cabinets were made, each incorporating a secret drawer, and replicated from a cabinet our client already had in their home. The cabinets were finished with elegant oval drop handles to complete the overall effect.

Oak Flooring

The flooring in the bedroom was replaced with solid oak floor boards of varying widths, all of which had been aged and polished to give it the appearance of having been there for many years.

Breakfronted Wardrobe

The impressive breakfronted wardrobe was made in solid mahogany with flamed mahogany veneered MDF panels incorporating a delicate handmade oval bead detail. The design was based on a photograph the client had seen and by bringing the centre section forward a little, and the clever use of faux drawers in the two centre doors, gives this large piece of furniture an aesthetically pleasing look. The interior was designed to suit the clients individual requirements with varying sections of hanging rails and shelves.

TV Unit

A very stylish piece of furniture was made to create practical storage for a modern piece of equipment. Based on the design of the bedside cabinets, we created a TV unit with a ‘swivel and lift’ hoist to allow this modern piece of equipment to be stowed away when not in use.

The Renovation

Initial works involved removing the large pine fielded panels from site and stripping the pine framework which was left in situ, of all decoration. The panels, having been returned to our workshop for renovation, were themselves stripped of all decoration and where significant shrinkage had occurred, were re sized by adding new pine sections. Once re sized, all the panels were returned to site and fitted into the original framework. The ornate cornice in the bedroom had sadly experienced some damage and in places had been totally cut away. Here we replicated the original detailing making new sections to fill the gaps, restoring the cornice to its former glory.
