Cookie Policy

This policy explains how this website uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. Please read it alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. They allow the site, or a service it uses, to recognise your browser on a later visit. Similar technologies, such as tags and local storage, work in comparable ways, and this policy uses “cookies” to cover them all.

How we use cookies

You do not need to accept any cookies to read this website or send us an enquiry. We use one essential cookie, which remembers your cookie choice. Analytics and advertising cookies are set only if you agree to them, and you can change your mind at any time.

  • dcf_cookie_consent (set by us, kept for 12 months): remembers whether you have accepted or declined analytics and advertising cookies, so that we do not ask on every visit. If the cookies we use change, we will ask you again.

Analytics cookies

These are set only with your consent.

We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit, how they find the site and where it could be clearer. The reports we see are aggregated, and we do not use them to identify individual visitors.

  • _ga (Google Analytics, expires after 2 years): distinguishes one visitor from another.
  • _ga_ followed by an identifier (Google Analytics, expires after 2 years): keeps track of the current visit.

Advertising cookies

These are set only with your consent.

We advertise through Google Ads. These cookies tell us when someone who clicked one of our adverts goes on to send an enquiry, so that we can judge which adverts are useful.

We also use them for remarketing: if you have visited this site, Google may show you our adverts on Google Search, YouTube and other websites that carry Google adverts. We do not see who you are, and you can turn this off at any time (see Managing your choices).

  • _gcl_au (Google Ads, expires after 90 days): measures how adverts lead to enquiries.
  • _gcl_aw (Google Ads, expires after 90 days): set when you arrive by clicking one of our adverts.

Google may also set its own cookies on its domains, such as google.com and doubleclick.net, for these purposes. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services.

Content from other services

Some parts of the site are provided by other services:

  • Map: the map on our contact page is provided by Google Maps. When it loads, Google receives your IP address and may set or read its own cookies.
  • Typefaces: the fonts on this site are served from our own website, so loading them does not contact any other service.

Managing your choices

  • On this site: use the Cookie settings link at the foot of any page to accept or decline analytics and advertising cookies, or to change an earlier choice.
  • In your browser: most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking all cookies may affect how other websites work.
  • Google Analytics: Google offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics on every website you visit.
  • Personalised adverts: you can turn off personalised adverts from Google, including remarketing, in My Ad Center.
