Restoring the Original Panelling
Layers of decoration were removed from the pine panelling before the individual sections were repaired and resized to address long-term shrinkage. The work was then reinstalled, with repairs made to the existing cornice where required.
A new solid-oak floor in varied board widths was aged and polished to sit comfortably with the retained fabric of the room.

Carved Bed and Bedside Cabinets
The elaborate headboard was developed from one the client had seen in a hotel overseas, then made, carved and polished by hand. A flame-mahogany backboard provides a quieter field behind the carved work.
Two bedside cabinets were based on an existing piece in the house. Each includes a concealed drawer and oval drop handles.

Wardrobe and Concealed Television
The wardrobe was developed from a photograph supplied by the client. We introduced the central breakfront to give the broad elevation a stronger centre. Solid mahogany is combined with flame-mahogany veneered panels and a handmade oval bead; false drawer fronts break down the two central doors, while the interior provides a practical mixture of hanging space and shelves.
A separate television cabinet follows the language of the bedside pieces. A swivel-and-lift mechanism allows the screen to be put away when it is not in use.
