Staircase, Doors and Study Joinery

Reed Farmhouse

Work at Reed Farmhouse connected a new extension with the retained parts of the building. A new oak staircase and doors establish the circulation, while a panelled study and fitted bookcases give one of the original rooms a distinct purpose and character.

The New Extension

A new oak staircase was made for the extension, with a panelled cupboard fitted beneath the flight. Solid-oak six-panelled entrance and side doors continue the same material through the hall, while oak kitchen doors and tulipwood internal doors and linings respond to the requirements of the adjoining rooms.

A Panelled Study

The study combines oak wall panelling with a pair of L-shaped bookcases. Open shelves provide space for books, while cupboards below keep less decorative items out of view.

A hand-carved overmantel gives the fireplace elevation a focal point and relates its detail to the fitted joinery elsewhere in the room.

Discuss a Project

Every commission begins with the building and the way it is used. If you are planning panelling, a staircase, a library or other joinery for a period home, we would be glad to hear about it.
