RAF Museum, Hendon

The BBC contacted us to see if we would be interested in replicating furniture for Claude Grahame-White’s Office at the RAF Museum in Hendon.  Once our details had been passed to the Museum directly, we were commissioned for the project.

Claude Grahame-White was a pioneering aviation designer of the early 20th century.  We were provided with a black and white photo from 1915 showing his office with the original layout and furniture.  After more research our team of highly skilled craftsmen reproduced the various pieces of furniture shown.  Each piece of furniture was aged and hand-polished to replicate the original age and wear, as shown in the photo.  For example, the table appears to be old whilst the chairs appear to be new.  If we can draw your attention to the refectory table, the bulbous legs have been hand turned and hand carved, with a mitred frame table top and a heavy carved frieze rail.
